Disc Golf

The Gastonia Parks and Recreation Department has installed a new recreational amenity at Rankin Lake Park.  Among the grassy, open areas and mature trees, a nine-hole disc golf course has been installed.  Because of the beauty and natural challenges of the site, local disc golfers believe that this will become known as a premiere site for the sport.

For information on the Gaston Disc Golf Club go to www.gastondiscgolf.com.

Tennis

The City maintains 46 tennis courts for use by the public on a first-come first-served basis. Men's and women's weekly Tennis League play takes place on City courts throughout the spring and summer months.

The Parks and Recreation Department co-sponsors citywide and youth tournaments in cooperation with the Gastonia men's and women's tennis associations, respectively. These are held during the summer months.

The Parks and Recreation Department conducts tennis classes for children and adults on a two-week schedule during the summer months.

Swimming

The City operates two large outdoor swimming pools from June until August for general swimming activities, scheduled lessons, and party rentals.
