Allocation of 2008 JAG Funds

The formula used to allocate JAG funds between the City of Gastonia Police Department, Gaston County Police Department and the Gaston County Sheriff's Office is based on Part I Crimes rates. The Sheriff's Office will receive 25 percent of each department's allocation, which is proportionate to the Office's Part I Crime incarceration costs. Based on this formula, the City of Gastonia Police Department will receive $16,840.50; the Gaston County Police Department will receive $5,202.00; and the Gaston County Sheriff's Office will receive $7,347.50. The proposed uses of the 2008 JAG funding are: 1) radio interoperability and automatic license plate recognition (Gastonia Police Department); 2) automatic license plate recognition (Gaston County Police Department); and 3) less lethal technology, staff development and overtime related to training (Gaston County Sheriff's Office). No local match is required.

Public input is invited on the 2008 JAG application.  Please contact Amanda Neese, Research Administrator at 704-869-1990 with comments.
