Positions & Background
The Records Bureau is responsible for data entry and filing of official police paperwork, along with proper and lawful dissemination to appropriate divisions, offices, and persons. The Front Desk, located in the Records Bureau, serves as a radio communication location for police officers. "Hot files" of stolen property and information from the National Criminal Information Center's Division of Criminal Information (NCIC/DCI) are maintained by Records personnel. The Front Desk also serves as a general information center for citizens. Copies of police reports are available to Gastonia citizens free of charge for the first copy. The Teleservice Unit, which takes police reports over the telephone, is a division of the Records Bureau. Mrs. Griffin joined the Gastonia Police Department in 1994. She holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Appalachian State University.
