GASTONIA -- Gastonia Police are asking for the public's help to identify a man who robbed a Gastonia store at gunpoint.
The suspect entered the Family Dollar at 1604 S. York Road on Aug. 10, approached the counter to purchase a bottle of water and pulled out a gun when the cashier opened the register. The suspect took money out of the register and left in a 1997 or 1998 gray SUV with black trim.
The suspect is described as a black male about 6-foot-tall and weighing 240 pounds. He was wearing a light tan colored shirt with dark baggy jeans and sunglasses. RALEIGH -- Today, Gov. Michael F. Easley announced the State is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Jaye Lynn Jarrett Smith in Gastonia, N.C.
On Sept. 9, 2005, the body of Ms. Smith, 28, was discovered in overgrown vegetation in the 600 block of East Second Avenue, Gastonia. Anyone having information concerning this case should contact the State Bureau of Investigation or Gastonia Police Detective Kevin McSwain at (704) 842-5170.

Missing Persons Case of Jennifer Rivkin

GASTONIA -- Gastonia Police are asking for the public's help to locate a 42-year-old woman missing since May 4. Jennifer Ramsey Rivkin, of Kings Mountain, was reported missing after the BMW she was driving was found May 6 at a bar & grill on West Franklin Boulevard, Gastonia. Jennifer's purse was still in the car.
Ms. Rivkin was last heard from in a cell phone message she left for a friend on May 4, and friends and family have been unable to reach her on her cell phone. Ms. Rivkin is 5-foot-5 and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Homicide Case of Haywood Eugene McCoy

Gastonia -- Gastonia Police are asking for the public's help in the homicide case of Haywood Eugene McCoy. Police responded to a call Jan. 15, 2008, at 1105 W. Rankin Ave. and found the victim, Haywood Eugene McCoy, shot. Mr. McCoy was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Case of Martic Lasalle Carothers
Gastonia -- Gastonia Police are asking for the public's help to locate a gray or taupe colored Jeep Liberty (after 1988) and four black male suspects involved in a Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, shooting that left a Gastonia man dead. Two of the four suspects are described as having a thin build with one of them being 5-foot-10.
The shooting occurred at 9:19 p.m. on Beaverbrook Drive and Martic Lasalle Carothers was transported to Gaston Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Missing Suspect Case of Scott Lee Sisk
Gastonia Police are asking for the public’s help to locate Scott Lee Sisk, 29, formerly of Mars Street, Gastonia.
Mr. Sisk is charged with failure to appear on the charges of statutory rape, indecent liberties with a minor, and disseminating harmful materials to a minor for an incident that occurred on Jan. 28, 2006. Mr. Sisk is also charged with two counts of probation violation, breaking and entering, and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Mr. Sisk is described as being about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, and weighing 170 pounds. Mr. Sisk has family and friends in Gastonia, and also in Tennessee.
