Underwater Search and Recovery Team
PADI Certified Up To Dive Masters
Gastonia Police Department's Underwater Search and Recovery (USAR) Team started in 1987. Team members receive advanced certification through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
Members of USAR, also called the Dive Team, are certified scuba divers with as a minimum NITROX (enriched air) training which allows a diver to stay at depths for longer periods of time, up to members certified as Dive Masters.
