K-9 Teams
Police Dog I Certified
Gastonia Police Department's K-9 Unit started in 1990 and consists of six teams. All teams are trained to obtain the Police Dog I Certification through the United States Police Canine Association. This certification means national standards are met for police dogs in obedience and agility, hidden suspect searches and criminal apprehension.
