Duties
The Traffic Services area of Field Operations is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 120 computerized traffic signal intersections, approximately 1000 traffic signals, over 250 miles of pavement markings and approximately 17,000 traffic signs. Traffic Services receives daily requests from the public that vary from checking the timing of traffic signals at intersections to replacing street name markers. This area is also responsible for setting up the detours for events such as the Annual Christmas Parade, along with various other parades, festivals and construction sites. Our maintenance programs are scheduled monthly for intersections and yearly for pavement markings. We are able to recycle our traffic and street signs to reduce the cost of purchasing and fabricating.
