Water / Sewer
The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for the corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment at all water and wastewater facilities. This Division also maintains Nineteen Wastewater Pumping Stations located throughout the city. Process Control and Monitoring Systems (SCADA) are utilized to oversee the operation and performance of treatment facilities and pumping stations as required by North Carolina regulatory agencies.
Facility Maintenance Division consist of ten Facility Plant Mechanics, three of which are Certified Licensed Electricians. Plant Mechanics and Electricians perform technical and skilled work in the repair and replacement of machinery and related equipment at the Water and Wastewater Facilities and Pumping Stations. The Water Treatment Plant is located on the corner of Falls Street and Long Avenue. The Long Creek WWTP is located off North New Hope Road on Old Spencer Mountain Road. The Crowders Creek WWTP is located off South 321 near the South Carolina State Line.
The Facility Maintenance Division also includes Grounds Maintenance Personnel that are responsible for the maintenance of over one hundred acres of property around the Water and Wastewater facilities. They also perform Landscaping duties, which add to the beautification program throughout the City of Gastonia.
