Engineering
The Engineering Department operates three Survey Crews. A wide variety of surveying is practiced in support of other sections in Engineering as well as other divisions and departments. Activities
Engineering Surveys - Physical information is gathered from the field as the initial step in developing construction plans for street, drainage, water, sewer and other public works improvements.
Property Surveys - Property concerns and lines are determined for the preparation of right of way and property maps for land acquisition for various public works projects, and for the sale of surplus City properties.
Construction Surveys> - Staking of various public works projects are performed for construction by private contractors and City forces.
Other duties of the survey crews include: pdetermining the City limit boundaries, performing traffic counts, verifying street addresses, maintaining the system of benchmark elevations, and determining flood elevations.
