The "Good Neighbor" Program was established by the City of Gastonia in 1990 as a convenient way to enable our utility customers to assist those less fortunate by adding a few dollars to the amount of their own bill. Funds generated through this program are forwarded to Crisis Assistance Ministries of Gastonia who assist individuals in paying their utility bills in times of need. This assistance is especially important during the winter and summer months when the temperature and weather conditions can be extreme.
Indicate on the return stub of your bill the amount you would like to contribute to the Good Neighbor Program. If no indication is made, the entire overpayment will be applied to your account.
Make your monthly payment for the total amount of your bill amount plus your contribution. For example, if your monthly charges total $100.00 and you wish to contribute $5.00 to the Good Neighbor Program, your payment should be $105.00. Return your bill stub with your payment. Mail your payment in the return envelope provided or place in the overnight drop box located at the South Street entrance to the City Hall.
