The "Good Neighbor" Program a convenient way to enable our utility customers to assist those less fortunate by adding a few dollars to the amount of their bill. Funds generated through this program are forwarded to Crisis Assistance Ministries of Gastonia who assists individuals in paying their utility bills in times of need. This assistance is especially important during the winter and summer months when the temperature and weather conditions can be extreme.
There are two ways to participate in the Good Neighbor Program:
One-time Contributions
If you would like to make a one-time contribution to the program, just indicate the amount on the return stub of your bill beside the wording Good Neighbor Contribution. If no indication is made, any overpayments will be applied to your account. Make your monthly payment for the total amount of your bill plus your contribution. For example, if your monthly charges total $100.00 and you wish to contribute $5.00 to the Good Neighbor Program, your payment should be $105.00. Return your bill stub with your payment. Mail your payment in the return envelope provided or place in the overnight drop box located at the South Street entrance to the City Hall.
Monthly Billed Contributions
If you would like to have a contribution to the Good Neighbor Program included as part of your monthly utility bill, simply fill out the Contact and Contribution Information below. The contribution amount will begin appearing as a separate line item on your City of Gastonia utility bill. As payments are made on your account, the contribution amounts will be forwarded to Crisis Assistance Ministries on a monthly basis. You can stop participating in the program at any time by calling our office at 704-866-6714.
