Keep Gastonia Beautiful
Tree City Award
In 2007, Keep Gastonia Beautiful and the City of Gastonia were awarded the Tree City designation for our sixth year. Gastonia met the four standards required for this designation.
- A Tree Board of Department
- A Community Tree Ordinance
- A Community Forestry Program with an Annual Budget of at least $2 per capita
- An Arbor Day Celebration
The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the United States Forestry Service and the National Association of State Foresters judge and award the Tree City designation. The National Arbor Day Foundation awarded the City of Gastonia it's third Growth Award.
