Since the adoption of CityVision 2010 in 1995, there have been many changes that have occured within the city, as well as in surrounding areas. Because these changes affect the city in various ways, it is necessary that the comprehensive plan be updated to reflect these actions. Gastonia 2020: Our Place in the Future is the update to the CityVision 2010 plan. It takes into account changes that have occurred within the community since the adoption of the 2010 comprehensive plan, as well as reprioritizes the city’s goals based upon those changes. Gastonia 2020 also surveys the attitudes and opinions of Gastonia’s citizens to make sure that the plan is still relevant in addressing the issues they feel to be the most important to the future of the community.
