Recreation & Cultural Services
The City of Gastonia offers its residents a variety of parks, recreation facilities, and cultural programs for their enjoyment. Recreation programs are developed and administered by professional recreation personnel and community recreation centers are managed by trained staff. The City’s cultural programs include the Schiele Museum, the region’s most renown natural history museum, and a variety of art-based options.

What is Park Watch?
The Park Watch program is a partnership between the Gastonia Parks and Recreation Department, the Gastonia Police Department and City residents to reduce crime, vandalism and illegal activities in our parks and recreation facilities. Modeled after the Community Watch program, Park Watch provides citizens guidelines to follow when reporting suspicious activities,helping us to keep our parks safe year-round.
