Mr. Carpenter serves as the Deputy City Manager. As Deputy City Manager, Mr. Carpenter is responsible for the day to day operations of the City in the absence of the City Manager, while continuing his role as head of Police, Fire, Information Technology, and Human Resources.
Mr. Carpenter has a distinguished career with the City of Gastonia, which he began in 1984 as a Software Developer. His experience in the organization is highlighted by numerous management positions in public safety, information technology and communications. He served for 4 years as Chief Information Officer and most recently served as an Assistant City Manager.
He holds a B.S.B.A degree in Management Information Systems from Western Carolina University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Gardner Webb University.
