Salary Levels for Officers:

Cadet:                     $47,857-$59,427
Police Officer I:       $50,250-$62,399
Police Officer II:     $52,763-$65,519
 Police Officer III:    $56,782-$71,595 

Incentives and Benefits Include: 
State of NC Intermediate Law Enforcement Certificate 2.5% pay increase
State of NC Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate 2.5% Pay increase
Police Training Officers receive a 5% pay increase
Bilingual Pay (All Foreign Languages) 2.5% pay increase
Permanent Shifts with differential pay for sworn and non-sworn (5 p.m. to 8 a.m.) 5% pay increase

Gastonia Police Department also has many civilian positions for those who want to serve their community, but not from a police car.  Civilian staff includes Police Records Specialist, Quartermaster, Homeless Coordinator, Administrative Assistants, Property Manager, Police Attorney, Technology Services, and Problem Analysis and Research Center staff.

Det. Quinley is a 18 year veteran at GPD, an Appalachian State University Graduate with her Master's Degree in Public Administration.  She has served in Patrol and Community Policing.  Detective Quinley is the full-time Recruiter and Training Officer for new Cadets.  She is a member of our Regional Crisis Negotiator Team and an NCJA instructor Specializing in Mental Health and Child Passenger Safety.

Sergeant Anthony Johnson

Officer Johnson is a 10 year veteran at GPD. He holds an Associate's Degree and is currently working on his Bachelor's at Gardner Webb.  Officer Johnson has served on Patrol, Street Crimes Unit, Police Training Officer, and  he is currently in the Community Policing Unit.

Officer Lazero Creagh
Officer Lazaro Creagh is a 20 year veteran of law enforcement; he had worked as a police officer in Florida and North Carolina.  He is currently assigned to patrol and is an active member of our Gang Unit, Crisis Intervention Team, Latin officer community group, and a car seat technician.

Sergeant Eric Wiggins

Sgt. Wiggins is a 24 year veteran at GPD, a graduate of Belmont Abbey College with his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. He has served on patrol, SWAT Sniper, Traffic Enforcement, STO, and Detective Bureau. As Sergeant, he has served as Patrol Sergeant and is currently Sergeant for the Office of Professional Standards.

Detective Taylor is a veteran officer at the Gastonia Police Department with over 15 years of law-enforcement experience. His policing experience started at South Carolina Probation and Parole; he became a North Charleston South Carolina Police Detective.  Detective Taylor is a graduate of Claflin University and Capella University with Master's Degrees in Criminal Justice and Education. Additionally, he is a proud military veteran with approximately 11 years of service in the Navy. His current assignment is the Office of Professional Standards, where he can utilize his years of education, law enforcement, and life experiences to assist in recruitment, background investigations, internal investigations, and other activities involving the community.
