Apply for New Service or Transfer Service

electric-serviceIf you are starting a new business in Gastonia, or the surrounding area, where some or all of the utility services are provided by the City of Gastonia or Two Rivers Utilities, and need to establish service in your name, please complete the online Non-Residential Utility Service Application and allow two (2) working days for us to process your request.  If you are unable to complete the application online, click here to access a printable application that can be mailed or delivered to our office in person.

You will also be required to provide proof of legal occupancy for the address in which you requesting utility service and proof of identity. For property owners, legal occupancy can be established with a signed copy of the purchase agreement, closing papers or deed. Renters may provide a copy of the lease agreement or utility verification form from their landlord. A sample form can be found here.

Because electricity, water and sewer are billed after being used, we require that you establish credit as part of your application for new service. However, for Non-Residential customers there are two alternatives for having the deposit waived, which are further outlined on the application form.

Property Managers

If you are a property manager, acting on behalf of an owner to establish, maintain and discontinue services with the City of Gastonia and Two Rivers Utilities, click here to access the online utility application.

Existing Service Locations
For situations where the property manager currently or previously has had service in their name for a particular location, very limited information is required to connect or disconnect services.

New Service Locations
If a property manager has recently acquired a new property to manage, more detailed information is required to establish new utility service, pursuant to Gastonia City Code Section 14-16.
Regardless of the number of other accounts or properties with current utility services, you will be asked to complete an application, provide proof of ownership for the property, proof of property management authority and proper identification for the person making application. With regard to property management authority, you may provide information on letterhead, to include the detail listed below:

• Service Location Address
• Owner Name(s)
• Property Manager Name or Company
• Agent or Applicant Name
• Effective Date
• Signatures and Dates for both parties
