Detectives Investigate Homicide that Occurred Yesterday Evening; Suspect Identified and Wanted for First-Degree Murder

Update: June 15, 2022 - On June 14, Terry Lomick was arrested and taken into custody without incident. 


UPDATE: May 28, 2022, at 12:40 p.m. - The victim is identified as Garreth Tomar Rondaz Bickham, age 35, of Shelby, N.C.


Gastonia, N.C.- May 28, 2022: Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department are investigating the homicide of Garreth Tomar Rondaz Bickham that occurred late yesterday evening. Investigators have identified the suspect in this murder as Terry Antonio Lomick, age 41, of Gastonia. Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Lomick charging him with first-degree murder and are asking the public for any information on the whereabouts of Terry Antonio Lomick.

Yesterday (Friday, May 27), at approximately 11:52 p.m., GPD officers along with fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Rankin Avenue and N. King Street for the report of a person who had just been shot.

Upon arrival, first responders located the Bickham inside a car near the intersection of Rankin Avenue and N. King Street. Officers observed that Bickham had a life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper body. Bickham was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.  

During the investigation, detectives identified Lomick as the suspect who shot Bickham. 

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Lomick charging him with murder and are actively looking for him.

This remains an active investigation. Detectives continue to work on a possible motive for this homicide and are working to determine how Bickham and Lomick were known to each other.
