Enforcement of Fire Codes & Ordinances

The Gastonia Fire Department's Life Safety Division is responsible for enforcing the fire code in the City of Gastonia. Whether its inspecting existing commercial buildings, new construction, or plan reviews it falls under the respobsibility of the Fire Marshal's Office. We oversee two different types of permits: operational permits (generally for existing businesses) and construction permits. If you received an operational permit application via email after your fire inspection, then look below under the section titled OPERATONAL PERMITS for instruction on how to pay the permit. For construction permits and plan review, look directly below under the section titled FIRE DEPARTMENT CONSTRUCTION PERMITS.
