REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL:

•  Chapter 160D Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Amendments for the City of Gastonia, North Carolina

Submission Deadline Date: Monday, January 4, 2021 on or before 4:00PM.  Click title above for more information.

The City of Gastonia, North Carolina is requesting proposals from interested consulting firms to update our existing Unified Development Ordinance (“UDO”) and updated Design Standards for the Gastonia Historic Districts to reflect all Chapter 160D updates as mandated by the North Carolina General Assembly. There have been additions and modifications to the City’s UDO throughout the years, and the city is currently undergoing a multi-year review update to our UDO. Any and all of the city’s respective ordinances which make up the Unified Development Ordinance and Design Standards for the Gastonia Historic Districts should reflect changes mandated by Chapter 160D.

Gastonia Wayfinding Program

Underway are the first downtown parking signs guiding people to various locations in the community.  The parking signs help guide you to the correct location.  Bizzell Design has been working with the City for several months with the development of 77 new decorative signs.  Three installation phases will take place.  For more information, visit https://cityofgastonia.news/2019/03/downtown-parking-signs-installation-underway/.

Open to the Public

The NC State Historic Preservation Office, the Gaston County Historic Preservation Commission, the City of Gastonia Planning Department, and the Historic Belmont Foundation will host a workshop for local historic preservation commission members and staff. Communities interested in setting up a local preservation commission, homeowners, and real estate agents are also welcome to attend.
