Tree City Award

Gastonia wins “TREE CITY USA” of North Carolina for 2011 and 2013.
 
In 2013, Keep Gastonia Beautiful and the City of Gastonia were awarded the “Tree City” designation for our thirteenth year.  Gastonia met the four standards required for this designation:Tree-City-Award-sign-20140926
 
A Tree Board or Department
 
A Community Tree Ordinance and Proclamation
 
A Community Forestry Program with an Annual Budget of at least per capita
 
An Arbor Day Celebration
 
The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the United States Forestry Service and the National Association of State Foresters judge and award the Tree City designation. 
 
National Arbor Day Foundation Growth Award
In 2013, Keep Gastonia Beautiful also received the“Growth Award” for our tenth year.  This award is given to organizations that promote tree plantings and maintained the tree canopy as well as work in concert with their local utility department.
