Plats

City staff reviews plats for Major, Minor, and Exempt subdivisions. Staff also reviews easement plats, annexation plats, etc.

Major subdivision plats must also be approved by City Council.

Preliminary Plats for Major Subdivions should be submitted as Preliminary Plats in the Portal.

Minor subdivisions, exempt subdivisions, right of way or easement maps, etc. should be submitted as Minor Plats in the Portal.

Major Subdivion Final Plats should be submitted as Final Plats in the Portal

Plat Process

  • Download Plat Checklist
  • Submit plat for review using https://devsvcs.cityofgastonia.com/ (see digital submittal guidelines in quick links)
  • 1st Plat Review – 14 calendar days
    • Resubmittals as necessary
  • Approval of plat
  • Record Plats
    • 2 mylar copies minimum
    • Min size is 18” x 24”
    • Recording fee required. Check made out to Gaston County Register of Deeds

Note: City of Gastonia staff will record the plat upon approval and receipt of fees.
